The Rapid Environmental Impact Assessment in Disasters (REA) project, with
the support of OFDA, will be conducting a 4.5 day training on the REA (2.5
days) and REA Training of Trainers (2 days) in Arlington Va from 25 to 29
April 2005. The training will be conducted by InterWorks in collaboration
with CARE and Benfield Hazard Research Centre.
An announcement covering the training is attached. Tuition, course materials
and a reference CD are fee of charge. There is a $60 fee to cover site
expenses. Certificates will be issued on successful completion of the REA
and TOT modules.
The training will be useful to individuals with responsibilities in the
areas of disaster impact assessment, humanitarian assistance, post-disaster
planning, Title II emergency programs and development of post-disaster
recovery programs. The training will provide individuals with interest in
environmental issues an insight into how these issues can be addressed in
disasters.
The combination of the basic REA course with a training of training module
is intended to take participants from knowing how to do an REA to being able
to train and lead others in completing rapid environmental impact
assessments.
Please feel free to circulate the attached flyer to interested parties.
