Dear All
Who gains from these online diologues? Not the least
the disaster-affected poor people. Disaster is not
deliberately integrated with development.Then the
relief messiahs and fly-by night operators would be
redundant. If community is is empowered, impact of
disaster would die away. These various international
agencies work at cross purposes. The right hand does
not know what the left hand is doing. We have observed
and studied these issues at ground level.
I have raised these issues in the critique of ISDR and
other agencies.Who cares to listen.
I would prefer be spending my time in bringing a bit
of smile on the face of tsunami-orphaned children and
teaching them some tricks to tackle disaster in
future.
