Dear Durgadas Mukhopadhyay,
If we were to accept the criticism that these online dialogues are pointless
and that the international agencies are doing nothing to help, what should
we be committing our time and resources to? I shall be optimistic and
suggest that most people on this list are genuinely committed to tackling
disaster and development appropriately. Please advise how--if you were able
to spare that time.
Such commentary need not be detailed and should not necessarily be any more
than a list of references, including websites and organisations, which you
feel are worthwhile and which you respect. For example, a wealth of diverse
expertise is represented in this list's membership, many of whom have taken
the time to reply to your postings. Would you recommend the contributions
of any of these people?
>I have raised these issues in the critique of ISDR and other agencies. Who
>cares to listen.
Was the ISDR critique a complete waste of time and resources too? Did the
people running the critique ignore the comments given to them? Those would
be significant and serious charges. Would you have any evidence, which
could be corroborated, to substantiate such remarks? Would you be willing
to post your critiques of ISDR and other agencies to this forum so that
those of us who wish to listen have the opportunity to do so? If you typed
out your comments, it would be a simple matter of cutting and pasting the
text into an email, hence minimal time commitment would be required. If
not, it might understandably require more time.
Thank you for your continuing input and I look forward to constructive,
specific, and evidence-based suggestions on how we could all improve our
work,
Ilan
