Project Manager Livelihoods and Disaster Mitigation

Practical Action is an international NGO working with people in developing
countries to find practical and sustainable solutions to improve their
lives. One of our aims is to enable poor and vulnerable communities to
cope better with the risks from natural or man-made disasters that can
threaten their livelihoods.
We are seeking a dynamic and resourceful individual to co-ordinate and
ensure the successful implementation of Practical Action's multi-country
programme: "Livelihood-centred approaches to disaster management". You
will be responsible for the overall management of the programme, including
support for the team in fulfilling project outputs and objectives,
development of project methodologies, policy on disaster risk reduction,
networking and dissemination of outputs.
Educated to degree level, you will have extensive experience in
international development, and be skilled in project management, with
experience in at least some of the following areas: disaster risk
reduction work, sustainable livelihoods, participatory methodologies,
vulnerability assessments. You will need strong leadership, analytical,
financial and organisational skills and be an excellent communicator and
facilitator. Ability to work collaboratively and willingness to travel are
essential.
