That was a very interesting question, Polona. It gives reason for reflection
about how we see ourselves, how mother's see us and how the population at
large sees us. What an enormous responsibility we carry, to ensure ethical
practice.
In Sweden consent isn't asked for. The mother is informed of the midwive's
intention to use episiotomy.It is assumed that the midwife will only use
this intervention if she deems it necessary for either the mother's or
baby's health.
What is the situation in Slovenia, permission or not?
