NEWS FOR SALE: INFORMATION IN THE AGE OF MARKET-DRIVEN JOURNALISM



This international conference focuses on the commercialisation of
the media. Democracy relies on access to accurate information.
Should the media be subject to market forces or treated as a public
good to be safeguarded?

The Conference will Cover: Commodification, Control and
Distribution, impact of GATS and TRIPS agreements, Internet
implications for news, EU policies, Commissions vs. Parliament,
Regulation vs. Deregulation, and the future of Public Service
Broadcasting.
