The Higher Education Academy’s Subject Centre for Art, Design, Media (ADM-
HEA)
(http://www.adm.heacademy.ac.uk) is located in the Faculty of Arts &
Architecture at the University
of Brighton which is also home to the HEFCE funded Centre for Excellence in
Teaching and Learning
Through Design. The ADM-HEA is based at our Grand Parade site and
undertakes and manages
projects that aim to deliver resources to enhance teaching practice and the
student learning
experience. These projects will often be collaborative and are
developmental or research-based.
They may be undertaken within the ADM-HEA or be external projects supported
by the ADM-HEA
team. Collaborative partners include other subject centres, Higher
Education Institutions and external
organizations, such as the Design Council and NESTA. Individuals of high
calibre are sought for the
following vacancies.
Director of the Subject Centre for Art, Design, Media
and Professor of Learning and Teaching
from £49,755 to £53,160
You will spend 0.4 of your time as Director of the Subject Centre for Art,
Design and Media and 0.6
as Professor of Learning and Teaching within the Faculty of Arts &
Architecture. You will be
responsible for the strategic planning and management of the Subject
Centre’s activities at a national
level and contribute to the work of the Higher Education Academy. You will
also be responsible for
the development of learning and teaching practices within the Faculty of
Arts & Architecture and
contribute to its research activities that, in RAE 2001, were awarded grade
5
(http://www.brighton.ac.uk/arts/research/index.htm). This post will be a
permanent appointment.

Academic Developers (two posts)
from £28,360 to £36,428 (pay award pending)
You will work closely with and support teacher-practitioners and Higher
Education Institutions at a
departmental and institutional level. This work will take the form of
projects and continuous
development and dissemination activities for a range of subjects including
fine and applied arts,
design, media practice, media studies and history of art and design. You
will need to be an
experienced teacher in one or more of the ADM-HEA’s subjects and have a
proven track record of
engagement with learning and teaching issues both within your subject area
and in the wider
development of learning and teaching at HE level. There will also be some
requirement to work
across our full range of subject areas. These two posts are fixed term to
August 2009 because
