HISTORY OF TV DRAMA: SHORT-TERM RESEARCH POST
The Centre for TV Drama Studies at the University of Reading seeks a
post-doctoral researcher to work full-time on the research project
'Cultures of British Television Drama, 1960-82' from 16 September
2005 to 28 February 2006. This project is funded by the AHRC and
studies popular generic TV drama in the 1960-82 period.
The post is based at the University of Reading in the Department of
Film, Theatre & Television, and has been occupied by Dr Helen
Wheatley since 1 March 2002. With Dr Wheatley's departure to take
up a post elsewhere, we are seeking a suitably qualified applicant to
contribute to the project research until its completion on 28 February
2006. The post-holder will work under the supervision of Dr Jonathan
Bignell, the project leader.
The post-holder must have a PhD in a relevant subject, and will be
required to conduct research for publication on any aspects of popular
TV drama in the 1960-82 period, subject to the agreement of Dr
Bignell. He/she will also be invited to assist in completing research
activities currently in progress. There are no teaching or
administrative responsibilities.
The salary will be between point 7 and 9 on the lecturer scale,
£22,507 and £24,820 pro rata (pay award pending), depending on
qualifications and experience.
