STN training courses free-of-charge in London - Pharma Focus
These new courses for Summer 2005 are all geared towards users who have
experience of STN Basics. Attendees will have the opportunity to
exercise the techniques discussed during skills practice sessions.
Venue: The Royal Society of Chemistry, Piccadilly, London 16-18 August
1. Searching for Formulations
Tuesday 16 August 13.00 - 16.00
STN provides a wealth of options to assist your research efforts in the
area of formulations, including formulation compounds used to enhance
stability and solubility.
In this session we will look at pharmaceutical and agrochemical
formulation content on STN and query development techniques to enable
comprehensive searching.
2. BioPharmaceutical Searching in a Multifile Environment
Wednesday 17 August 10.00 - 13.00
One of the strengths of searching on STN is the ability to reuse and
merge answer sets from more than one file. See how to develop a
comprehensive topic search using STN file synergy. Capitalize on
controlled vocabulary, exploiting file-specific features, and then
complete the search by reviewing unique titles. Efficient use of STN
tools and features will improve your search results.
3. Tracking Generics
Thursday 18 August 10.00 - 13:00
Competition from generic companies has never been stiffer!
Be proactive: find out what drugs will expire and when, and setup an
alert to monitor them
Be reactive: Find out which drugs in your key target area are coming off
patent by searching literature and conference proceedings.
This workshop will demonstrate techniques to monitor your competitors by
searching for drug expiration dates in Inpadoc, IMSPatents and Diogenes.
The results of this search can be transferred into alerts in the
business files. Searching on target areas in the business, pipeline and
regulatory databases on STN will also be covered.
Please contact us stating which course(s) you would like to attend, and
whether you would prefer to use STN Express or STN on the Web. Details
will be sent out approximately 10 days before the date of the course.
Places are limited, and attendees will have to share PCs.
Lunch is not included.
