Barry Mahon will cover the economic and technical issues affecting
information professionals in dealing with multimedia 'documents'.
Barry is currently based in Paris where he is Executive Director of
ICSTI, the International Council for Scientific and Technical Information.
He is also Associate Advisor and Consultant at TFPL.
Barry, who is well known for his pioneering work with both online and
email services, was for many years Head of EUSIDIC, the European
Association of Information Services. He also spent two years as a
volunteer development worker in Africa.
Barry is a key player on the international scene - most recently
the 2005 annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of
Science. He has been active in the debate on Open Access publishing, while
his own most recent books are on Information Architecture (with Alan
Gilchrist) and digital preservation.
CILIP in London evening meetings are free and open to all with a
professional interest in the topic. Refreshments will be available
