I would like to agree whole heartedly with Janine.
As a recently approved chartership candidate I find both Charles and Ian's
comments absolutely despicable. I'd like to think that Librarians and
Information Professionals are not a closed shop, and with an employers hat
on, I would like to think that any candidate I was interviewing was well
prepared, using their own information skills to explore every avenue
possible.
It looked to me like Anne was using her acquired skills to do just that -
Anne good luck with the interview, and to Charles and Ian and the others
who made scathing comments - perhaps it is now time for you to come off
the extremely high pedestal you would appear to be perched upon - no
wonder as a profession we tend to get such bad press!
There is an article in today's Guardian which may be relevant if you
are applying for a job in a public library:

Good luck with the interview!
To Charles and Ian: I think your replies to the entire list are harsh
and unnecessary. The CILIP discussion list should be about mutual
support and healthy debate, not humiliation and one-upmanship. New
entrants to the profession should be able to ask for support and
advice without having to feel intimidated by the unhealthy and
unproductive 'exclusive club' atmophere that the information
profession is so good at creating for itself. I am unsubscribing to
the list as of now, so I don't have to read your (no doubt scathing)
replies.
