I completely agree. I accepted an extremely low paid job as a graduate
trainee. At the time my manager did tell me that CILIP had 'slapped the
wrist' of my employer when they agreed to advertise the post (NB the post
no longer exists, although I doubt this is through CILIP's intervention). I
accepted the job as I decided the training I would receive would be worth
the personal sacrifice, plus there were no other trainee-ships left in my
area.
My point is that whilst the postings are right that it is unacceptable of
employers to be offering below average/insulting salaries, I feel it is the
right of individuals to be able to see these jobs and make up our own minds
about applying. Sometimes choice is a luxury.
