Dear all
At City Hospital Library in Nottingham the staffed opening hours are
8-5 Mon - Fri. The library is staffed by 3 qualified librarians, 1 full time
and 3 part time library and information officers. Traditionally the library
was accessible 24/7 but this ended 2 years ago in order to comply with the
lone worker policy and health and safety policy. The 24/7 service was
replaced with 15 hours additional opening per week with a security guard
during term time. The library is based in the PGEC in the hospital grounds
but not actually in the hospital itself and is not staffed 24/7 which is why
it has been affected by the lone worker policy, however there is a cleaner
present in the building until 8 Mon - Fri. The library has swipe card access
to the main building and to the library (connected to the main hospital
swipe system) and 2 security cameras (connected directly to the hospital
security camera system).
I would be very grateful if you could answer the following questions
- your replies will help me to assess the options for opening beyond the
staffed hours. I will summarise replies for the list if you want to reply
direct please reply to [log in to unmask] .
1. How many additonal hours after Mon - Fri 0900 - 1700 are you
open?
2. Are these staffed or unstaffed?
3. If you open at weekends, for how long?
4. Does your hospital have a lone worker policy?
5. If the library is not in a 24 hour operating building how are you
affected by the lone worker policy / what have you put in place to comply
with the lone worker policy?
6. Any other comments...?
Many thanks
Maria
