As part of my library dissertation I am planning to deliver a couple of
library instruction sessions to postgraduate medical students and then to
test the students to see how much they have learnt.
Does anyone have experience of providing library instruction/information
skills training to postgraduate medical students? I am particularly
interested in methods for evaluating library instruction at this level.
What level of competency vis-a-vis information skills should we expect
from postgraduates? - it would be very useful to have this kind of
information since it is an essential basis for designing instruction
sessions and evaluation tests for this academic level.
I know that SCONUL provides a vague indication as to what levels of
information literacy postgrads should aspire to (in the 'Seven Pillars of
Information Literacy')but does anyone know of a more precise set of skills
or learning objectives appropriate for postgraduates?
