CRD challenge selected newspaper reports on a weekly basis through their
news analysis service aimed at health professionals. Hitting the Headlines
is an integral part of the National electronic Library for Health
(http://www.nelh.nhs.uk) and provides busy health professionals with a
rapid and reliable analysis of the evidence behind news reports on health
interventions and diagnostic tests. Staff at CRD locate and systematically
examine the research behind the headlines. Brief and readable summaries are
posted on the NeLH website within 48 hours of newspaper publication.
Hitting the Headlines is included in The Guardian's list of the 10 best
health resources online and its top 100 websites.
You can now sign up for either an email alert service
(http://www.nelh.nhs.uk/hth/help6a.asp) or an MXL feed,
(http://www.nelh.nhs.uk/xmlhelp.asp) both available on the NeLH website.
CRD have produced a poster which gives helpful tips on how to follow up
news stories not covered by Hitting the Headlines. It outlines the process
and gives useful links, including the CRD Information and Enquiry service.
CRD staff are available to help with searches, particularly for systematic
reviews and guidelines. They also help with any problems encountered when
using the CRD databases. The services is free of charge to NHS staff and is
available 9-5 Monday to Friday at [log in to unmask] or telephone 01904
