A vacancy has arisen for the permanent post of Senior Library
Assistant/Library Assistant at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust.
The Trust Library provides library and information services to all
healthcare staff and students of the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS
Trust and those based in the local community.
We are seeking an approachable individual with excellent communication and
interpersonal skills and a flexible approach. The successful candidate
will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team. The
ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail is important. 
Duties will be varied and will include dealing with user enquiries, issue
desk work, interlibrary loan provision, user education and other general
library duties. Library functions are automated using the Heritage Library
Management system. Previous experience in an NHS or academic library and
familiarity with computerised library systems will be advantageous but not
essential. 
This post would be suitable for an applicant with previous library
experience or someone new to the library environment who would be willing
to start at Library Assistant level with a view to promotion to Senior
Library Assistant at a later date.

We are looking for someone with good communication skills, a desire to
help others and a flexible approach to join our small friendly team of
Library staff in providing an effective library service to all RSCH Trust
staff, students and staff from the surrounding health community. 
The varied and interesting duties will include helping library users;
working on the enquiry desk; issuing and returning books; processing inter
library loans and other general library duties. 
This post is part time and hours can be flexible within the Library’s core
opening hours of 9 – 5 pm Monday to Friday. Experience is not required.
All training will be provided. 
The position is fixed term to cover maternity leave.
