I think it may be worthwhile sending responses to this article to [log in to unmask] as well as to this list.
A little dickie bird (ie the author of the article under discussion) has told me that they are short fo letters and there is a high chance of getting into print which would reach a larger audience than those who read it on here.

Well this all sounds wunnerful - totally wunnerful or it could just be its a new year and a new happy me and it takes time to build into my usual grouchy cynical self. I do like the idea of "community based navigators" in the policy document. Maybe it is just me and my warped antipodean mind linking with the concept of "sh*t creek" with these marvellous new people, or else maybe the Public Libraries will be flooded and linked together by new sparkly waterways and librarians shall now steer boats and consult lode stones and stars....................... Has anyone actually figured where these people will be acquired from???
I am not sure how this surfing the Internet, interacting with the T.V/government phones lines etc whilst glued to the sofa and methodically munching through Christmas leftovers actually ties in with the idea I had vaguely gathered from somewhere about us all lifting our chunky little butts off the cushions and bracing ourselves for a brisk walk in the fresh air (if you can find it that is - past all the smokers now outside ....) because the government says so (maybe it was a dream/too much food and I mis-heard)
How about a bit more money into library budgets while they are at it (NHS, Health and Public to buy the resources our punters actually ask us for/want).
yours (chocolately), Juliet

Never lend books, for no one ever returns them. The only books I have in my library are books that other folks have leant me.
