I think the use of the word 'free' is also unfortunate. I am a member of the
national LKDN Informatics group and this point was made at the last meeting
- the use of the word free is misleading and it was suggested that we don't
use it on local publicity regarding core-content resources. I thought that
was very sound advice and included the point in my feedback to colleagues in
the Eastern area.
The surprising appearance of NKGH does make it increasingly difficult for
those of us trying to be supportive of national developments.

Well, the advert starts "Gone Blank?" Judging from the responses here
and on the strand on the origins of NKGH, it's the advertisers who have
gone blank.
We've been told that NeLH is not NLH, so presumably NeLH/NLH is not
NKGH. The advert has logos for Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland -
have they been taken over as well?
In view of the NeLH/NLH saga since last April, "make it up as we go
along " seems a pretty apt motto.
It's ironic that the advert goes on "Let NHS libraries fill you in"
when no one bothers to fill NHS libraries (librarians?) in as to what is
going on. I think NHS staff may be confused by mentioning "free access
to eJournals, eBooks and clinical effectiveness publications" when they
know libraries provide much more besides.
Not a brilliant advert, I'm afraid.
Gordon.

Oh goody!
Now we've got National electronic Library for Health, National Library
for
Health, and National Knowledge Grid for Health and they're all the
same
thing!
Never mind the Athens registration, be prepared for lots of users
asking
what the difference is between NLH/NeLH and the National Knowledge
Grid!
I didn't see "make it up as we go along" in the consultation document
on the
NLH communications strategy, did you?

If anyone comes and asks you about this, see the advert opposite p444
in
today's BMJ (26 February 2005).
Seems like a good idea, but I have to say it had passed me by until
Emily
spotted it this morning when booking in the BMJ. I can't even blame
snowdrifts for getting in the way, as we haven't got any!
Happy weekend, and loads of Athens registrations to look forward to on
Monday....
