Someone once said similar to me "gee - you're not like a librarian are you???" I had wondered since what the appropriate response should have been "gosh and you don't look like a nurse/a doctor/very bright...."
I am damn proud to be a librarian, damn proud to be a health librarian and if anyone says to me I don't look like a librarian I think I will now ask them what one should look like as I haven't met any librarian that seems to fit the picture.... of course if they then want to contribute to a clothing allowance that would be grand ('long as I choose).

Never lend books, for no one ever returns them. The only books I have in my library are books that other folks have leant me.

We won't change people's ideas of us until we all unite in wanting to.
Hands up all who are wearing cardigans...
Seriously, this debate has been going on for the twenty years that I've been
in the profession. When are we actually going to do something about it?
