But if it's a card, why not call it a card? And unless those who read
the advert can share in the pleasure (?) of finding a metaphor etc.,
etc., how on earth are they expected to know the Grid is only a card?

Ann - thank you for your explanation. Who's in charge of this scheme?
Sounds like another instance of the poor bloody infantry again....
I do wish communication could pass to the troops, since there is little
that
is more irritating than Not Being Told What's Going On.
It would be as well to remember we are not unintelligent, but we
intensely
dislike being uninformed!

Subject: [LIS-MEDICAL] knowledge grid for health
Dear all
To clarify some of the discussion around this phrase:
The cards were produced as part of Health Libraries Week activities by
the 4-country, UK-wide working
group set up for that initiative, with representation from each of the
4 NHS e-Library services.
The term "Knowledge Grid" is simply a title for the card; the group
was
pleased to find a metaphor that reflects a positive interest in
cross-boundary working, but did not intend it to represent any
specific
strategy.
I know in Scotland an electronic copy of the card was distributed in
advance to the NHS librarian network; also a list of the journals in
which it would appear.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards
Ann
