CILIP - and The LA - have continued to try for years to run course in
central and convenient places that are outside London. There is rarely
sufficient take up for the courses to be viable and their cancellation
means disappointed trainers and those who did register.
The costs are high for most training budgets but they are not higher than
those of similar bodies.
I wouldn't assume that CILIP officers responsible are members of
lis-medical but they will be interested in feedback about the learning
events they develop. HLG Councillors can also feed information in. Penny
Simmonds is always keen to know what issues training events would assist
and contacts for good trainers.
We've all given time and expertise at learning events such as conferences
but high calibre, full time trainers require reasonable remuneration.
