I am doing a class on using PubMed and want to briefly go over the
diffences between PubMed and Medline. From the 'Overview' link on PubMed's
home page there is a section covering the difference in content between
PubMed and Medline. This description implies that one advantage of using
PubMed is that it has extra content not available in Medline. However, the
extra content concerned consists of records from OLD MEDLINE (1950-65)
and "The out-of-scope citations (e.g., articles on plate tectonics or
astrophysics) from certain MEDLINE journals, primarily general science and
chemistry journals, for which the life sciences articles are indexed for
MEDLINE". It appears to me that this extra content is unlikely to benefit
many users. Am I correct to assume this?
