OXFORD UNIVERSITY LIBRARY SERVICES
COLLECTION MANAGEMENT
OULS ELECTRONIC RESOURCES CO-ORDINATOR
Salary up to £35,883 p.a.
Oxford University seeks to provide students and staff with maximum access to
electronic publications and resources worldwide, and to Oxford’s own
research resources, with the best and most up to-date design, tools and
features, irrespective of time and place.
The University of Oxford currently subscribes to nearly 11,000 electronic
titles. In the next few years we expect that the range and depth of the
electronic collections to increase and the support services to be enhanced.
We are now seeking to appoint a senior person to play a critical role in
developing and supporting the provision of electronic resources in the
University. Reporting to the OULS Head of Collection Management, you will
be responsible for the licensing and implementation of major datasets and
large journal packages and, with colleagues in the systems section (SERS),
for managing and developing the presentation layer of OxLIP, which is a
single user interface that integrates all electronic resources. The
introduction of the new library management system in 2006 will facilitate
both access and the management of electronic resources through the
Electronic Resource Management System (ERMS) and a Portal.
In addition, you will provide support to staff and readers on all matters
relating to electronic resources, including regularly handling support
queries via email and telephone. You will liaise with the systems section
in order to ensure appropriate IT support and will be Oxford University's
representative for certain national bodies concerned with the provision of
electronic resources. As the team grows, you will have increasing staff
supervision responsibility.
You should be a qualified librarian with broad experience in the area of
electronic resources and possess excellent IT skills. You will also have
proven ability in the management of electronic materials and their
licensing, and have a sound working knowledge of the special issues
concerning their acquisition and delivery. You must be an accomplished
negotiator, with excellent communication skills, and be able to represent
the Oxford libraries at a national level.
