With increasing expenditure on e-journal deals and other e-resources, we
are finding that we require to top-slice an ever larger amount from the
library resource budget prior to devolving funds to departments for the
purchase of non-deal journals, monographs etc.
Obviously the overall budget is limited and there are differing needs in
particular subject areas. How are other institutions coping with this problem?
We are also currently reviewing the operation of our current Resource
Allocation Model which is used to allocate the devolved portion of the
budgets to departments. Have other institutions modelling ideas that they
could share?
Thanks for any advice and assistance.
