UNIVERSITY OF LONDON RESEARCH LIBRARY SERVICES

SENATE HOUSE LIBRARY

We are seeking two organised and accurate team-players, with excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, to fill the following posts in an
archival and records management project jointly being undertaken by Senate
House Library and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.

ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST & RECORDS MANAGER
(REF: 50/05 - WLIB)
 £21,594 - £31,262 pa inc LW
(12-months fixed-term)

As part of the project you will assess, appraise, weed and backlog the
semi-current records within the central University in line with existing
standards and retention schedules. You will deal with the
preservation/conservation and repackaging needs of materials as
appropriate and will supervise the listing work of the Project Assistant.

You must possess a good honours degree (or equivalent by experience or
ability); a qualification relevant to archives administration or records
management; and one year’s post qualification experience in archives
administration or records management, including experience of managing and
appraising semi-current records. An interest and enthusiasm for records
and archives, knowledge of archives and record management standards and
practical knowledge of relevant legal requirements are required in
addition.

PROJECT RECORDS ASSISTANT
(REF: 51/05 - WLIB)
£16,087 - £19,587 pa inc LW
(12-months fixed-term)

You will assess, appraise, weed and list the backlog of semi-current
records within the central University of London, using the ADLIB archives
and manuscripts database. In addition you will assist with the repackaging
of material and will undertake a variety of clerical and administrative
duties related to the project.

Educated to ‘A Level’ standard (or equivalent by experience and/or
ability), you must have previous experience of archives and/or records
work, gained within an academic library context.
You must be able to work methodically under pressure, to organise and
priortise work to meet agreed deadlines, and possess an appreciation of
the importance of dealing with confidential material in a sensitive
manner.
