Oxford Forest Information Service presents:
Frontiers in Forest Information: a centenary conference
St Anne's College, Oxford University, 5-7 December 2005
Oxford University has been active in the collection and dissemination of
global forestry information for 100 years, and is celebrating this
centenary with a conference on Frontiers in Forest Information at St
Anne's College, Oxford, UK, 5-7 December 2005. The vital role of trees and
forests in the maintenance of a stable global environment is now
recognized at the highest intergovernmental levels and is studied in
thousands of universities and research institutes worldwide, in
disciplines ranging from forest and plant sciences, environmental change,
geography, ecology, earth sciences, biochemistry and medicine through
development studies and economics to social sciences and law. The
conference will reflect this very wide constituency in examining global
needs for information about trees and forests today, the importance of
forest information in development, new publishing paradigms and the impact
of changing technologies.
Bookings for the three-day residential conference (including centenary
banquet) is now open on www.plantlib.ox.ac.uk/forestry, where further
details can be found. Book before 15 July 2005 for 10% discount! Non-
residential rates are also available.
This conference and accompanying exhibition is arranged by Oxford
University Library Services in conjunction with CAB International, the
International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO), and INASP
(the International Network for Availability of Scientific Publications).
It will include a mix of keynote presentations, invited papers and
discussion sessions. Anyone interested in presenting a paper is invited to
