ALISS, Academic Librarians in the Social Sciences was a very active
group in the 1990's and its acronym is, I think still well remembered
and known from that era.
I am glad to see it re adopted by this group. A little confusion in the
profession is nothing new and for Academic Social Sciences Librarians I
do not think there will be that much confusion.

Lis-linkers may need to be aware that ALISS, the new name for ASSIGN,
the social science information group, may be confused with ALLIS
(Accessing Lancashire Libraries and Information Sevices) with its web
site at www.allis.org.uk and the West Midlands-based Artist & Learning
Information & Support Service which can be reached at www.aliss.org.uk .
