Could anyone help us with this, please?
On our Library System, we store postal home addresses for our large body
of part-time/peripatetic teaching staff. We have recently been told by
colleagues in another department that they cannot give us updated
addresses for some staff who seem to have moved house, because of the
Data Protection Act.
Is this really true? Given that all parties involved work in the same
organisation? I thought that being part of the same corporate body meant
this information could be shared for work purposes. The staff in
question do not have work-based e-mail accounts, offices on the premises
or even pigeonholes, so a postal address is an essential part of their
library record.
Any enlightenment welcomed.
