Learning Advisor

Permanent, Full Time position (37.00 hours per week)
£16,067 - £17,643, depending on experience and qualifications
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Learning Advisor to work as part of the LRC team. This team is dedicated to providing a high quality information service to all College students and staff within a supportive learning environment.
A dynamic approach to resource provision is essential to meet the requirements of the college's forward thinking culture. The post holder would share the college's commitment to continual development of ILT and new and innovative teaching and learning methods.
The position will involve developing, enhancing and delivering the Learning Resource Centre's student study skills programme. The successful applicant will promote customer led library and information services that reflect the needs of learners and have an enthusiasm for accepting challenges and providing a quality service.
You will possess a degree in information science or library and information studies, at least two years relevant professional experience and expertise in a similar environment. A high level of IT information literacy is essential. The candidate should also have a professional attitude and strong communication, interpersonal and highly developed team working skills.
Job Description
* To keep students and staff informed of the services available within the LRC.
* Deliver inductions for new LRC users.
* Prepare guides and publicity materials to support the use of information resources and services offered by the LRC.
* Disseminate information on new products and current developments on relevant subject and educational issues to keep staff updated.
* To participate in proactively supporting your curriculum programme areas through liaising with programme areas and tutors.
* Identify, provide and classify relevant resources including links to internet websites, online databases, media material, books and journals.
* Review and update resources as required on a continual basis.
* Suggest and research relevant ILT resources for teaching and learning within the curriculum areas.
* To co-ordinate and deliver an Information skills programme to fulltime students in your subject area.
* Assist with the ongoing development of material for the Information Skills programme.
* Deliver and assess the complete programme to fulltime students in your curriculum areas.
* To work as part of the LRC team in maintaining an excellent level of customer service to all LRC users.
* Provide cover on the front desks of the Learning Zone and the library.
* Ensure that the physical environment is attractive, user friendly and conducive to study.
* Provide assistance to all LRC users - students and staff - as and when required
