Dear Colleague
RE: Employer's Forum 12th May 10.15am-1.00pm
Last year the Information Management School (IMS) at London Metropolitan
University hosted a very successful Employer’s Forum at which 20 Employers
from a range of Library and Information Services in London and the Home
Counties participated. The exchange of information at the event has been
particularly useful for the School and as a direct result of listening to
the participants who attended the Forum, we are delighted to announce that
we have developed a new post-graduate programme – an M.Sc in Digital
Information Management to run from 2005-06.
The importance of maintaining active links and dialogue between the
Information Management School and Employers is vital and I want to extend
an invitation to you to our event in 2005. One positive opportunity of
pursuing this link is through the DTI funded programme – Knowledge Transfer
Partnerships (KTPs) – a collaboration between organisations such as yours,
graduates and academics. John Perry from the University’s Knowledge
Transfer Partnership Centre will present the programme. Emerging from this,
we can explore the feasibility of developing KTPs and identifying areas for
both strategic and professional development.
The agenda for the Forum on 12th May is as follows
10.15 Arrival & Coffee
10.30 Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
11.45 Skills & Knowledge Gaps / Continuing Professional Development
12.30 Student Placements
12.45 Lunch
1.30 Tour of Facilities (optional)
Please indicate your willingness to attend to Dr. Sue Batley by e-mail:
[log in to unmask] by 4th May 2005. The Forum will take place in
the Board Room, 8th Floor, Technology Tower, Holloway Road, N7. This
building is opposite Holloway Road Tube Station on the Picadilly Line.
I do hope you or a colleague can attend and look forward to your response.
Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
Yours faithfully,
Rosemary McGuinness
Academic Leader,
