The Horniman Museum is in the process of relocating its Library from its home in the basement to another building. Floor loading problems mean that our old racking cannot be installed in the new space. We are therefore offering the redundant shelving to any library, archive, museum or similar organisation that may be interested in acquiring it. The racking was made by Hovik Stahl, and consists predominantly of compact (rolling) shelves, with some low-rise static shelves as well. There is a total of 1289 linear metres of shelves, all in good condition.
The recipient would need to bear the costs of dismantling, removal and any other associated costs; we should be able to put the recipient in touch with a source of appropriate assistance regarding dismantling and re-erection. Our timescales are tight as we intend to clear the basement area by June. If you are interested and wish to know more, including details and dimensions of components, please contact Horniman Librarian David Allen (rather than myself) at: [log in to unmask], tel 0208 699 1872 ex 108.
Thanks,
