There are still a few places left on this Aslib Midlands event 

Information Governance Seminar

Thursday 28th April 2005 at Birmingham Central Library: Room 4
 
10.00am - 12.45pm and 2.15pm - 5.00pm

This seminar, run by Aslib Midlands Branch, will address the key issues relating to Information Governance that affect Information Professionals from a range of disciplines. The day will be presented by:

Nigel Metcalfe

Information Governance Manager at Birmingham Women's Health Care Trust

Nigel will provide a general outline of Information Governance, whilst drawing on his experience in the NHS, to demonstrate how Information Governance is important to the foundations of the knowledge economy.

 Paul Hemmings 

Birmingham Central Library Manager for Archives and Heritage

Paul will present and cover issues surrounding Information legislation in relation to local authority records management and archive services drawing on Birmingham's experience.

Graham Coult

Editor of Managing Information

Graham will be addressing relevant issues relating to the Freedom of Information Act, to include the background and history of the act and some practical tips for compliance.

David Stokes 

Head of Science for Birmingham and Secretary to the Alliance of UK PATLIBs

David will provide an in depth overview of Patents and Intellectual Property issues. He has delivered "Creative Insight" as a new concept in IP services for Libraries, Information Professionals and the Public.
 
 There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion, questions and networking at the end of each presentation.
