University Library, University of Manchester, Wednesday, 2nd
February 2005,
9.30 – 16.30 Costs (including lunch and refreshments): UKeIG

VAT (£152.75); others £160 +VAT (£188.00)
The course is designed to offer:
* an understanding of the meaning of the term “e-book”
* a familiarity with a range of e-book publishers and aggregators
and the nature of e-books available
* an understanding how e-books are being used for
reference purposes, reading, and in support of learning and
teaching
* an appreciation of the advantages and disadvantages of the
medium
* an appreciation of the collection management issues associated
with bibliographical control, selection, acquisition, access,
licensing, and archiving
* a familiarity with the different ways of promoting awareness and
use of the format
The course will be presented by Ray Lonsdale, reader in Information
Studies
at the University of Wales, Aberyswyth and Chris Armstrong, Director
Information Automation Ltd.
