Information Literacy

23rd March 2005 Andersonian Library, University of Strathclyde

A group of four speakers from throughout the Higher Education Sector will be sharing their views and experiences on Information Literacy developments, on the 23rd March 2005, Andersonian Library, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow:

Janet Peters, Director of Library and Information Services, University of Wales College, Newport is highly active in the field of Information Literacy. Janet is a member of the SCONUL Advisory Committee on Information Literacy and published a widely in this area. Janet will be talking about the work of SCONUL in developing Information Literacy

Dr John Crawford, Library Research Officer Glasgow Caledonian University is highly active in a number of Information Literacy research projects. John will be talking about his work in developing the usage of Electronic Information Services as an employability agenda, and his work with developing Information Literacy skills with secondary schools

Sheila Webber is a lecturer at the Dept. of Information Studies at the University of Sheffield and has done extensive research in the field of Information Literacy. Sheila will be exploring with us the relationship between Academics and Information Literacy. 

Chris Milne is an Information Manager at the University of Abertay, Dundee. Chris was involved in developing the University's Information Literacy programme, which is based on the SCONUL 7 pillars model. Chris will be talking about the practical experiences of integrating an Information Literacy framework into the University's undergraduate programmes

The session will be chaired by Michael Roberts, University of Strathclyde, and will incorporate the Group Section A.G.M. which will be held at 13:15. Attendance at the A.G.M. will free to all members of the Group.
