Workshops: Archives preservation is essentially a set of practical
measures that the archives manager can institute as policy and
procedure within the repository to maximise the longevity of the
records in their care. These workshops have been designed to give
participants the opportunity to learn about and try out some of these
practical techniques. Participants will be able to select one of two
workshops for each session.
Using Conservation services: It can be difficult to assess
requirements and to select conservation services. This workshop will
cover what to look for and how to plan a project.
Simple document cleaning: This session will enable participants to
observe and try out simple techniques for cleaning documents.
Developing a preservation strategy/policy: This is a workshop session
that will give participants the opportunity to begin to develop their
own ideas for a preservation strategy and/or policy for their
repository.
Using suppliers catalogues and selecting packaging: This workshop
will help participants use suppliers catalogues and websites to
select archive supplies such as boxes and folders which underpin
preventative preservation measures.
