A History of Garden Magazines
in the British Library Conference Centre
96 Euston Rd London NW1
Take advantage of this special offer. Bring a friend to hear about the
changing fortunes of gardening magazines from their beginnings in the world
of the late Georgian country house to the contemporary world of the garden
makeover.
The 1820s and 1830s saw the founding of the first monthly magazines on
gardening, and eventually the first weekly gardening newspapers.
Fifty years later, there were four major weekly newspapers competing for the
attention of the professional gardener, and the first magazines for the
amateur were appearing.
Today you will find a garden magazine in every newsagent.
