Here at Leeds Met we are piloting zoning in one of our campus libraries to
try to provide different types of study environment. We have dedicated one
floor for silent study, one for quiet and the third for group study. The
silent and quiet areas seem to be working but we are having problems with
noise levels when students are working in groups. It seems hard to
establish group "study" and we are getting a common room atmosphere.
We have regular security patrols and ask people to leave if they are making
too much noise as well as posters etc but wondered if anyone else is trying
anything similar and what your experiences are.
Please contact me directly and then I'll summarise for the list.
Many thanks
