Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, the University Librarian will
provide visionary leadership in support of the University's mission
statement. Within a University community that comprises students and staff
from 12 member countries and the international arena, this position will be
provide appropriate information resources to meet learning, teaching and
resource needs in a flexible learning and teaching environment utilizing
both traditional and enhanced technological means of information sharing and
transfer.
The appointee will be responsible for the academic, strategic and managerial
affairs of the Library and total operation of library and information
services to on-campus and distance education students through Campus and
Centre libraries. This will include overall management of the services,
operations and collections of the Library; formulating planning goals and
objectives; recruiting and supervising professional staff; providing
Education and Training opportunities; managing the Library budget ;marketing
and public relations for the Library and participating in internal and
external Boards, Committees and Consultancies as required.
Applicants must have a Masters degree in Library or Information Science or
equivalent from an accredited institution; extensive experience in planning,
budgeting, personnel and IT management in an academic library environment;
experience in planning and implementing strategic goals and initiatives;
proven leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities as well as
strong problem solving and consensus building skills.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in a
multicultural environment and working in the Pacific.

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by
mutual agreement.
Salary Range: F$99 087 to F$107 117 per annum
(Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)
In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic
salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation
costs where appropriate.
