North East CILIP Leadership Day - Friday 11th November 2005

Following a very successful session on leadership at Umbrella in June, NE 
CILIP is delighted to be holding a ‘Leadership Day’ on November 11th 2005, 
at NEMLAC in Newcastle.

SPEAKERS

Keith Merrin

Keith has been Director of Bede’s World Museum in Jarrow since February 
2002. He is currently spearheading a bid to have Bede’s home monastery of 
Wearmouth-Jarrow recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Earlier this 
year he was seconded to the Newcastle Gateshead Initiative where, as Acting 
Creative Director, he developed Culture 10’s £12million 2005Alive festivals 
of music, rivers, sport and visual arts. In 2004 Keith became one of 27 
people nationally to be selected to become a Fellow of the Clore Leadership 
Programme in its first year.  He remains the only Fellow from the North East 
of England.

Maggie Fieldhouse

Whilst Deputy Librarian and Information Services Manager  at the University 
of Sussex, Maggie was nominated by SCONUL for JISC funding to attend the 
Frye Leadership Insitute in Atlanta in June 2004.  In October 2005 Maggie 
was appointed as a Lecturer at the School of Library, Archive and 
Information Studies at University College London, where she teaches 
Collection Management and Management.

Laurayne Featherstone

Laurayne is the Libraries and Information Manager at Stockton Public 
Libraries.
