Following from a recent stocktake it has become clear that we have
sustained significant losses in the last year. We currently have a security
system, but no automatically-locking barrier if the alarm sounds. I would
like to investigate the possibility of having a magnetic device fitted to
the library door so that it would lock when the alarm sounded, but our
Facilities Manager has suggested that this may contravene health and safety
regulations. I'm sure that many other libraries have this facility, and I'd
be interested to get an idea of a)how many libraries have this system in
place and b)whether anyone has had to deal with this argument?
Many thanks,
