I don't usually get involved in thse political debates but Terry is quite right on questioning implications for librarians. What is the situation about yesterday's terrorists (remembering that yesterday's terrorists are today's government and national heroes. Remember we [British] locked up a few "terrorists" who later became prime ministers of their newly independent countries (I hesitate to name them as I shall probably get them wrong). So are past terrorists not terrorists? Do you have a record library which has "Irish Rebel Music" or similar titles which you loan out. Doubtless it includes "Black and Tan Gun" the lyrics of which are "Here lies a true Irish soldier, Who was shot by a Black-and-Tan gun, And now we are back in old Dublin, our victory over and won, We think of our comrades we buried under God`s rising sun. Here lies a true Irish soldier, Who was shot by a Black-and-Tan gun, And now we are back in old Dublin, our victory over and won, We think of our comrades we buried under God`s rising sun." Hopefully the Bill has some sort of protection regarding "historic" terrorists.
Anyway my mother always said don't enter into arguments about politics or religion - so with that, I withdraw!
