PROJECT CONSERVATOR
SENATE HOUSE LIBRARY
£21,594 - £31,262 p.a. inc. LW (pay award pending)
12 months fixed-term
We are seeking a qualified conservator to contribute to and assist with
preservation and conservation activity across the University of London
Research Library Services (ULRLS).
The primary function of the post will be to complete urgent preservation
and conservation treatments on the De Morgan Library, containing printed,
archival and manuscript materials. In addition, you will provide training
and advice for staff and users on the handling of library materials.
Of graduate calibre, it is essential that you have considerable
conservation experience gained in a library or archive environment; an up-
to-date and detailed professional knowledge of conservation and
preservation techniques for library and archive materials and current
international standards of conservation work; and knowledge of
environmental issues and requirements around the storage and use of
library materials. A good communicator with the ability to provide
effective instruction and advice, write reports and document procedures,
you must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to deal with
staff and external contacts at all levels.
