Applications are invited from professionally qualified graduates for the
post of Temporary Senior Information Assistant, Special Collections. The
successful candidate will join a small team based in the Foyle Special
Collections Library, which forms part of the Maughan Library and
Information Services Centre, Chancery Lane.
The post-holder's principal duty will be the creation and editing of
online catalogue records for a collection of books, journals and pamphlets
relating to the Holocaust and history of the Jews in Central and Eastern
Europe. Other duties will include: the administration of such
preservation and conservation work as may be required, the compilation of
descriptive web pages relating to the collection, and assisting with the
reading room and enquiry services at the Foyle Special Collections
Library.
The post will provide an excellent opportunity for a professionally
qualified graduate with previous online cataloguing experience wishing to
pursue a career in this area. High standards of attention to detail and
accuracy, a proven ability to meet targets and excellent oral and written
communication skills are required. Knowledge of German is also essential.
An appointment will be made for a period of twelve months.
Salary will be within the CRA4 range, £18,394 to £20,860, inclusive of
£2,323 London allowance per annum. Holidays will be 20 days per year,
plus statutory holidays and 6 College closed days.
