The IAML (UK & Irl) Courses and Education Committee invite you to attend a one-day seminar on the management of music collections in libraries. The aim of the day is to give library staff without a background in music a grounding in the principles underlying the successful management of music collections.
When?
Tuesday 18th October 2005, 9.45am to 5pm
Where?
British Library Conference Centre, 96 Euston Road, London, NW1 2DB (directions on the British Library website at http://www.bl.uk/services/conference/blmap.html <http://www.bl.uk/services/conference/blmap.html> ). The venue has special access for disabled visitors, including ramped access to lifts.
Content
The seminar will include talks on building and maintaining music collections, arrangement of music materials on the shelves, basic preservation guidelines and advice on best practice for weeding and disposal. There will also be practical exercises and lots of opportunities to ask questions and share experiences.
Who should attend?
Staff in libaries of any type who have responsibility for music materials, and who lack music subject knowledge and/or experience of managing resources in this area. It is also suitable for anyone with a more general interest in the administration of music collections in libraries.
Cost
£60 per person including lunch and refreshments (IAML members £45; students £25).
