UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD HEALTH CARE LIBRARIES
Library Graduate Trainee Opportunity 2005
CLERICAL & LIBRARY GRADE C2: Salary £11,960 - £13,953 p.a.
For the best start to your career, Oxford's one year graduate trainee posts offer you an excellent introduction to library and information work within the context of world-class collections.
We currently have a vacancy commencing October 2005 that will provide the necessary experience required by UK departments of library and information studies.
A Graduate Trainee is required to work in University of Oxford Health Care Libraries, a modern and developing service providing information support to the Medical Sciences Division, University of Oxford and the NHS.
Duties will be varied and will include staffing frontline service points, technical services and working across all four of our sites. This post offers the trainee an excellent opportunity to experience working with students, academics and clinicians, and to familiarise him/herself with health information sources, as well as to gain a good overview of how a hybrid and multi-sectoral health information service fits together.
The trainees at Oxford benefit from on-the-job training and attendance at specially designed weekly training sessions (following the SCONUL Code of Practice). There are also many other learning opportunities within Oxford, which include computing training, general staff development courses and visits to other libraries.
