In a survey for World Book Day 2005, 26% of
British adults said they chose the most recent
book they read for pleasure because they had read
other books by the same author. So how do you
choose when you have read all of your favourite
author's books? Help is at hand: LISU has just
published the fifth edition of its successful
guide to fiction authors - Who Else Writes Like Š
?
The book lists 1,875 authors, and with each name
lists between three and twelve others who write
in a similar way. Further suggestions can be
found through the index of genres, or the list of
prize winners at the back of the book. There is
also an index to characters and series in fiction
as well as a bibliography of other fiction guides
and useful websites.
Who Else Writes LikeŠ? seeks to help anyone who
enjoys fiction to expand the number of writers
that they read. It has become an established tool
for readers and those advising readers in their
quest to derive the utmost pleasure from fiction.
Those wanting to get the most out of being in a
Reading Group should also find it useful.
The book is edited by Roy and Jeanne Huse, who
have an extensive experience of libraries,
reading and readers. To create the guide, they
draw on the accumulated professional expertise of
a team of experienced advisers, based throughout
the UK, with first-hand knowledge of books and
readers.
Eric Davies, LISU's Director commented:
"At LISU we take great satisfaction in the
knowledge that Who Else Writes Like Š ? is now
firmly established as an important guide for
adult fiction readers. Each time a new edition
emerges, I think that it is the best ever; this
one is no exception, with more authors and an
improved layout."
Who Else Writes Like Š ? ISBN 1 901786897 is
published at £19.99 (post paid UK) from LISU,
