British Cartoon and Caricature Network
The Centre for the Study of Cartoons and Caricature, University of
Kent,
is working with the Cartoon Art Trust to establish a network of museums
and
archives holding collections of British cartoons and caricature. A
meeting
was recently held at the British Library, funded by the MLA, and
attended by
representatives from more than fifteen museums and archives with major
cartoon collections. The meeting agreed to create a Subject Specialist
Network in this field, and to try to involve all public institutions
holding
collections of British cartoons and caricature. To this end we would
like to
know of any collections of British cartoons and caricature outside the
major
museums and archives, whether in the form of sketches and drawings, or
on
pottery, posters, or in film animation.
If your organisation does hold such a collection could you please let
us
know? We would like if possible the artist or artists' names, the date
range
of the works, how many pieces you have and their format.
If you would like any more information on the project please contact
either myself or Dr. Nick Hiley [log in to unmask]
