The University of St Andrews' Library and Information Services (LIS) is
seeking to appoint a Director of Library Services within LIS to be
responsible for leading the Library in the delivery of modern and effective
information services to the students and staff of the University. As
Director of Library Services, you will have a good understanding of how a
University Library interacts with the teaching and research activities of a
highly rated academic institution. Proven qualities of leadership and
vision, together with a high degree of organisational, planning and
financial experience, are essential. Excellent human resource management,
communications and interpersonal skills are also required.
As a member of LIS's Management Committee – and potentially the next Chair
of the Committee – you will have substantial IT knowledge and a significant
understanding of the role academic and administrative computing must play
in a research-intensive institution. You will also bring an unambiguous
commitment to deriving maximum benefit from an integrated LIS. The
appointment will commence at the earliest opportunity.
