A sign of the times and the times to come.
A very good reason for all professional and academic related staff to join
the appropriate union. If you have a choice I recommend the AUT. Do it
today, they may come for you tomorrow.
One thought does occur to me, did this employer require a degree or
post-graduate qualification when the post was last advertised? If so
surely it is their fault if they are not making full use of the talent and
skills they have employed. I have known some universities to say, in a job
advert, "a degree is desirable" for a junior clerical post. If they want
to employ graduates they should expect to have to pay for them.
