Dear colleagues,
The Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI) offers a wide range
of practical training courses related to imaging and digitisation.
The following courses are being run during October and November (all
in Bristol):
*** Introduction to Creating Quality Metadata for Digital Image -
Thursday 27th October (limited places left - bookings close shortly)
Covers the theory and practice of describing images, including the
use of formal metadata schema and controlled vocabularies.
*** Colour Management - Thursday 3rd November
Provides a practical introduction to the tricky area of colour
management. Looks at how to calibrate equipment and use the standard
ICC colour profiles effectively.
*** Create and Animate Vector Graphics Using Flash MX - Friday 4th
November
Suitable for non-technical professionals who wish to create animated
graphics for use on the Web or in presentations. Includes drawing
tools, creating animation using the timeline, and basic action
scripting for navigation and interaction.
***Image Capture - Beginners - Thursday 10th November
Provides a theoretical overview of image capture combined with
practical exercises in using scanners and digital cameras.
***Image Capture - Intermediate - Friday 11th November
Scanning and image optimisation techniques for those who already have
some experience. Includes calibration, techniques for capturing
different types of images and ways of getting the most out of
scanning and optimisation software.
